ORGANISATION CULTURE WORKSHOP
COMPANY VALUES MORE IMPORTANT THAN MARKET FORCES
Learn how to unleash your organisation’s potential by developing and changing organisational culture through change circles.
Join Work Dynamics and international organisation development consultant Marcella Bremer for a three day seminar on developing a unique corporate culture and becoming future proof.
ORGANISATION CULTURE, CHANGE AND LEADERSHIP
Studies have shown that some organisations have been very successful despite adverse market forces. These firms all highlighted the power that resides in developing and managing a unique corporate culture as a key ingredient in their success. Their success had less to do with market forces than company values; less to do with competitive positioning than personal beliefs; less to do with resource advantages than vision.
The prevailing culture of an organisation will affect business results as well as shape the health, morale and productivity of employees. Healthy organisational culture translates in a reduced turnover rate, decreased absenteeism, and a reputation as an employer of choice. Attracting the best candidates, reduces operational costs and achieves stellar performance levels. Culture counts!
How does one then develop and manage an organisation culture in this fast-paced era, responding to digitalisation, globalisation and anticipating competition, innovations, disruptive technology developments and a workforce of highly-educated professionals who want to develop themselves, be challenged and engaged to achieve an inspiring purpose?
The old, industrial, command-and-control times are gone. And so are the old-fashioned top-down change paradigms of unfreeze-refreeze based on control, experts, planning and paperwork. Many organisational programmes fail because they don’t take the culture into account as in “the way we do things around here”. The top might have decided that the others (the employees) must change. Many change programmes fail because they are too conceptual and organisation-wide.
Welcome to the 21st Century! Here’s a better approach of guiding change while preparing your organisation to stay future proof.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Internal and External Organisation Development Consultants; Human Resource Managers; Managers and Leaders responsible for leading and guiding individuals through change.
ABOUT THE APPROACH
Based on the book “Organisational Culture Change: Unleash your organisation’s potential in circles of 10”, author, consultant and trainer Marcella Bremer will guide you through the “Change Circles of 10” approach of successful change. This approach includes everyone in change circles, engages and empowers people to co-create the change that will work for them.
You learn to build trust, dialogue and engagement, you focus on specific behaviours, on what is working well and on who does it and how to do it. You guide change and develop your co-workers and your organisation into a great place to work.
Marcella Bremer uses the validated Organisational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI - developed by Cameron & Quinn) to start the dialogue of WHAT needs to change. Next, you engage, energise and empower people to find the HOW of successful change in small teams; the change circles. This requires an advanced level of change leadership: You are a crucial WHO, who guides change by building trust, practicing dialogue, enhancing awareness and developing people with respect. Learn to be the change you want to see in the team... because leadership shapes culture and change!
Change only happens when people change behaviours. Co-workers copy, coach and correct each other in their teams. To change behaviours and thus outcomes, we need to work with people and their interactions in groups (copy, coach and correct) while we try to leverage the change by engaging “positive energisers”.
But will this approach work? Some say that culture can’t be changed - because people don’t really change. Here’s the thing: we can use the “stickiness” of habits and culture to our advantage... People like to belong to a group and do what others do. That’s why we engage people in small change circles. This differs from large-scale organisational change where people in the back may hide objections and fake commitment. In Change Circles people have a better chance to change because they feel safe and supported and they like to belong to the team with good leadership. Whatever you believe about organisational change, culture and leadership — wouldn’t you be happy to achieve successful organisational and personal development? I guess you do. So: Learn to lead!
